Experienced Mother Postpartum Services

Experiencing another pregnancy as an accomplished mother, you bring a wealth of wisdom and insight to the journey ahead. Through the lens of your previous motherhood experience, you continue to engage in the routine prenatal checkups, while thoughtfully reflecting on your past childbirth journeys, identifying what worked well and considering potential adjustments. Creating a birth plan that includes the lessons from your prior pregnancy is a natural step for seasoned mothers like you. Additionally, you are starting to organize childcare for your existing children during labor and preparing your older children for the arrival of their new sibling. Soon, you’ll be packing a hospital bag with probably half the amount you brought the first time, but definitely not forgetting the extra long phone charging chord. You’re lining up your support village, maybe with more confidence than you had the first time around. You are preparing a nursery, preparing for your postpartum, all with a fraction of the sleep you had the first time because there is no place for daytime naps when you have other children running around.

As an experienced mother, you're likely navigating a complex emotional landscape. Having been through childbirth before, you approach this pregnancy with a blend of confidence and excitement, fully aware of the journey that lies ahead. While the anticipation and joy of expanding your family are ever-present, you may also grapple with some lingering apprehension, especially if your other births presented challenges. You may be experiencing some sadness as you realize your family as you know it today will be changed forever soon. You could be looking forward to the postpartum bubble, looking forward to newborn snuggles and slow days at home. The thought of the newborn time may cause you anxiety as you know you’ll be out of your normal rhythms and unsure what your new normal will look like. You might be feeling worried wondering how you’ll keep up with the family while being up with a newborn overnight. Feelings of empowerment, nostalgia, and gratitude often coexist, leaving you feeling more prepared and ready to welcome your new addition. And it’s most likely you’ve felt some combination of all of those above, quite possibly even on the same day.

Since you found your way to this page, let me start by saying, I would be honored to be part of your support village. There is something really sweet about serving experienced mothers. We realize the hard days are not forever. We stay nap trapped a little longer. We ask for help a little more confidently. If you’re looking to slow down during this postpartum season, be really present with your newborn, I would love to help you experience that. Whether it’s helping you plan for that fourth trimester, cooking in your kitchen, cleaning up dishes or folding laundry, all to give you the chance to soak up extra snuggles, please know nothing would bring me greater joy.

FAQs

  • A postpartum doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to new mothers and families during the postpartum period, typically in the weeks and months following childbirth. They assist with tasks like newborn care, breastfeeding support, household chores, and offer guidance on postpartum recovery and adjustment, promoting a smoother transition into parenthood.

  • A postpartum doula offers invaluable support to new mothers and families by helping with tasks such as postpartum healing suggestions, breastfeeding guidance, meal preparation, newborn care, and light household chores. They provide emotional and informational support, easing the transition into parenthood, and ensuring that mothers feel nurtured and informed during the postpartum period.

  • This is on of a first-time mothers biggest concerns when considering hiring a postpartum doula and the answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT! I insist. Do. Not. Lift. A. Finger. We are quite literally coming over to mother you. You are doing the hard work - up around the clock feeding, changing, comforting your newborn. You’re trying to heal your body, understand all of your emotions, balance your hormones. Laundry, dishes, vacuuming should be so far down your list of priorities you forget about them. I am there to change your sheets, clean up the kitchen, finish the laundry, make you a warm tea or coffee, sit with you and catch up on how you’re doing since the last time we saw each other. Please remember, you’re not the first mother we’ve worked with postpartum and they have all left their dishes, laundry and vacuums sit idle until we arrive!

  • I offer my services exclusively in package form, and there's a meaningful reason behind this choice. Having experienced postpartum doula services both by the hour and as a package, I found the package approach to be far more preferable. It allowed me to spread out the payments over a period of time before the baby came, relieving me of the burden of scheduling, handling invoices, and making payments during the fourth trimester. During the postpartum season, there's already so much to think about, and the simpler, more streamlined approach provided by service packages greatly reduced my stress. Therefore, I aim to offer mothers the peace of mind that the transactional aspects are settled before the baby arrives, allowing them to focus on mothering their newborn while I support and care for them. In terms of payment, I am entirely flexible and can accommodate one-time payments or weekly installments, adapting to what works best for your family's needs.

New motherhood can be exciting, overstimulating, blissful, and exhausting. We spend so much time and energy, especially in the early weeks, nurturing our new little one. During each hour together, I want you to leave feeling like you were the one being nurtured. I design each of our sessions to fit your season of postpartum, modifying movements that facilitate healing and bring balance back to your body. We will practice safely, encouraging blood flow and building strength over our weeks together in your core and pelvic floor while relaxing areas of the body that become stiff as you care for your newborn. By combining soft movements, stretching, postnatal yoga, and Pilates, my goal is for each session to honor your body and calm your mind, improving both your physical and mental health. Most important though, my goal is for you to leave our time together feeling renewed.

Becoming a mother while learning to care for a newborn can be an incredibly overwhelming feeling. You just gave birth, are trying to heal, are sleep-deprived, and learning to bond with your new baby. Too often in today’s world, new mothers begin their postpartum season alone to fend for themselves. As a postpartum doula, I am committed to your health and wellbeing, assisting in any areas YOU need it most. As you embark on your postpartum journey of finding your “new normal”, I want to be alongside you supporting, encouraging, listening, and helping however you need.
